1. To accurately determine Gestational age ( how weeks old the baby is ).
2. To  Calculate EDD that is Expected Date of Delivery of Baby  or Due Date..
3. To Check for Baby heartbeat. Baby heartbeat usually starts to be recognizable at 6 weeks of Pregnancy.

You’ll be asked to drink plenty of water before the scan to ensure you have a full bladder. This makes it easier to get clear images of your baby. Also you can have your regular breakfast or meal before Ultrasound. There is no need for an empty stomach for Ultrasound.

2. Gel Application:

 A clear, cool gel will be spread on your tummy to help with the ultrasound.

3. Ultrasound Device:

The person conducting the scan (a healthcare provider or a Radiologist) will use a small handheld device called an ultrasound transducer. It looks like a wand with a bit of gel on it.

4. Image Time:

The transducer is moved gently over your belly, and it sends sound waves into your body. When these sound waves bounce off the structures inside, they’re turned into images that appear on a screen. Note that the ultrasound waves are safe for the Baby and do not do any harm to Baby.

5. Measurements:

The healthcare provider will measure your baby from head to bottom, known as the crown-rump length (CRL). They may also check other measurements like heart beats and any bleeding or abnormal sign..

6. Your Due Date:

Based on all these measurements, Sonologist calculate your estimated due date.
